This five-week course outlines the gendered dynamics of education in both development and humanitarian settings. This includes challenges and practical interventions to address gender and education, including how education can be a site to either reinforce or to counter gender inequalities. Topics covered include: gender dynamics in education, conditions and consequences, mainstreaming gender equality in education, types of education: formal and informal.
The course is part of the Gender in Development and Humanitarian Assistance (GDHA) Diploma continuing education program targeting students and practitioners organised by the Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW) and the Continuing Education Program (CEP) at the Lebanese American University with Human Rights Education Associates (HREA).
Classes take place on 19 June, 22 June, 26 June, 29 June and 3 July from 18:00-21:00 at LAU's Beirut campus. It also possible to participate in the course through web-conferencing.
