ABOUT THE PROJECT
Do you want to learn core humanitarian skills? Or are you a manager ready to help your staff to step up as leaders of humanitarian interventions?
Context is designed to help you, or your staff, to develop core humanitarian competencies in order to improve the quality of emergency response. Context focuses specifically on strengthening the national capacity to respond. In 2015-17, RedR UK will be implementing the Context Programme in the Middle East and East Africa. Context is based on the Core Humanitarian Competencies Framework, and provides high-quality participative capacity building that is contextually relevant and delivered by highly skilled local RedR facilitators.
CORE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
This is a six-month inter-agency programme providing ongoing professional development to national agency staff in their current roles. It provides an introduction to the key concepts and skills of humanitarian programming. This includes the humanitarian system, standards and principles, programme delivery skills, self-management, collaboration and professional development.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Target participants are existing national staff, in any discipline or support function but not currently in a management role, in countries/regions involved (or likely to be involved) in Emergency Response programmes, who have not previously been on humanitarian training courses.
TIME FRAME & LOCATION
This programme will be taking place in Beirut, Lebanon between November 2016 and June 2017. The two face-to-face workshops will take place over the following dates:
Workshop One:
Duration: 4 days
Date: 28 November-1 December 2016
Workshop Two:
Duration: 4 days
Date: 20-23 February 2017
ONTRIBUTION TOWARDS TRAINING COSTS
Organisations of the participants will be expected to make a contribution to the accommodation cost their staff participating in the programme, based on the following bands:
Band A:National NGOs and government
$ 150 :Amount to cover the accommodation costs (Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for workshop 1 and workshop 2 each 4 nights). Scholarships are offered for Band A
Band B:International NGOs and UN
Amount to cover the accommodation costs (Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for workshop 1 and workshop 2 each 4 nights). This is to be paid through REDR UK to ensure smooth logistical arrangements according to the below:
1st Participant will pay full cost of $480
2nd participant at 50% of the cost of $240
3rd participant at no charge
N.B. The course is offered at no charge. The only commitment required from partners is to cover cost related to the logistical aspect of the training including transportation and accommodation for the 2 workshops as shown above.
